easy swing

For the next month(ish), I’m going to be counting down my Top 25 Favorite TV Shows. These are my personal favorites and are, by no means, what I consider “best” or “most culturally important”.

18. Wonderfalls 2004. FOX. Created by Bryan Fuller and Todd Holland.

What Is It? Difficult-to-describe-without-making-it-sound-ridiculous comedy about a young woman who begins to hear voices and commands from inanimate animal objects.
Why I Love It It’s hard for me to describe how much I identify with Jaye Tyler. She’s incredibly smart, but lost. She feels disillusioned with the world and the expectations of the world and as a result that makes her bitter and pessimistic. She is incredibly stubborn and has a really hard time accepting love and admiration, and even though she is aware that this is how she is and has the constant company of the voices, she still feels remarkably lonely. Wonderfalls has an incredible amount of heart and every single episode makes me oversmile or cry at the resolution. While, yes, it is unfortunate that the show had such a short life, I think in some ways it’s sort of a blessing. Wonderfalls is perfect, but it’s not hard for me to imagine it flying off the rails. As it stands, to me, Wonderfalls is perfect.
