For the next month(ish), I’m going to be counting down my Top 25 Favorite TV Shows. These are my personal favorites and are, by no means, what I consider “best” or “most culturally important”.

23. Justified 2010-present. FX. Created by Graham Yost. Based on the novels of Elmore Leonard.

What Is It? Drama about the life and career of Raylan Givens, a deputy U.S. Marshal who often employs his own brand of justice that stretches beyond the law. The series begins when he is transferred to his former home in Eastern Kentucky where his personal ties run deep.
Why I Love It First off, I’m not going to lie. Timothy Olyphant is one of the most beautiful men I have ever, ever seen and I think he is sexy as hell. That can really help the watchability of a show if you have periodic, fandomy creeper tendencies like I do. But, Justified is far far more than that to me. This show is the closest thing on my list to a procedural cop show, but it goes so much further than that format. I think that the most important element on a show is the strength of the characters within it, and that is where I get lost in procedural series where the characters are replacable and disposable. One of the things that makes Justified so incredibly remarkable is how developed and fleshed out every single character is, from crime bosses to single scene desk clerks. Fantastically acted and scripted, Justified is one of the most exciting and promising series on television.
